How to play Tapa Balance

Tapa Balance Puzzle Rules:

  • The goal is to blacken some cells of the grid, forming a single connected black area.

  • No 2x2 square area within the grid can be entirely black.

  • Clue cells with numbers cannot be filled in and indicate the length of each consecutive black cell block in the eight surrounding cells.

  • If there are multiple digits in a cell, the groups of black cells must be separated by at least one white cell.

  • Question marks (?) can be used instead of clue numbers. Each question mark can represent any non-zero integer.

  • In Tapa Balance, the number of black cells in the left part of the grid must be equal to the number of black cells in the right part of the grid. Clues and white cells are considered weightless.

Tapa Balance puzzle adds balance rules to regular Tapa puzzles, making it more difficult and interesting to solve. When solving the puzzle, you need to pay more attention to the number of black squares on the left and right sides, and flexibly use the regular Tapa rules to deduce and finally complete the puzzle.

Tapa Balance is a variation of the Tapa puzzle that is unique in that:

  • The grid is divided into left and right parts, and the number of black squares on the left and right must be equal.

  • Tip numbers and white squares have no weight and are not included in the calculation of the number of black squares.
